March Reads

Unravel Me

by Tahereh Mafi

I am really struggling on whether to give this four or five stars. Some parts for 5+ worthy :-). I love Adam and Juliette so much. They complement each other! Juliette annoyed the heck out of me when it came to Warner. I could not see th...

Just One Year

by Gayle Forman

This is a story about loving and learning from life and the people in it, including oneself. Anyone going into this book expecting an incredibly romantic follow-up to Just One Day (me) will be sorely let down (me), which is where my two ...

Destroy Me

by Tahereh Mafi

I understand Warner more now. I don't think he is a monster, but as I remember some of the things he said to Juliette in Unrave Me, I still don't like him.

Fracture Me

by Tahereh Mafi

I am so frustrated! Adam, what the heck?! Acting like Juliette's a burden, something to take care of because she can't take care of herself, instead of caring for her! Juliette's the weak link, Juliette's too trapped in her own head, Jul...

Unite Me

by Tahereh Mafi

Thoughts on Destroy Me:
I understand Warner more now. I don't think he is a monster, but as I remember some of the things he said to Juliette in Unravel Me, I still don't like him.

Glitches

by Marissa Meyer

Aw. Poor Cinder. She matured well though considering the circumstances.

The Queen's Army

by Marissa Meyer

Interesting.

The Sky is Everywhere

by Jandy Nelson

So sweet. And the epilogue: lol, so cute. A story about living after tragedy, living with grief, loving everywhere the sky touches, and learning that love, like the sky, is everywhere.

The Little Android

by Marissa Meyer

Ohh, I was not expecting that ending!

The Color Purple

by Alice Walker

Favorite Book of the Month: This Star Won't Go Out

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: February 2014

What can I say? My terrific reading streak was bound to take a nose dive one of these days. Eight/ten pieces of literature I read and finished this month were for school. I did begin four other YA fiction novels, but I didn't get very far into any of them so I didn't count them this month. I look forward to reading them in March.

February Reading Stats:

10 pieces of literature: 6 short stories, 1 novel, 1 novella, 1 children's chapter book, 1 memoir.

February Reads

The Yellow Wallpaper

by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

The Lottery

by Shirley Jackson

The Story of an Hour

by Kate Chopin

by Ernest Hemingway

Everyday Use: Alice Walker

by Barbara Christian

Consequence

by Shelly Crane

3.5! :) I love Caleb and Maggie, and now I can hardly contain myself as I await Ava & Seth!

Scarlet

by Marissa Meyer

A very enjoyable read. I love the intertwining of the old and new main characters. This series definitely makes me form crack-pot theories as I read it. I'm excited to see how it all progresses in Cress.

Alice in Wonderland

by Lewis Carroll

Well. Wasn't expecting that. I've never seen Alice in Wonderland fully, but I know the story well and I guess I figured this would be enjoyable? Rather, it was quite silly and childish. All the characters were weird (as I anticipated) bu...

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: January 2014

Another great month for reading! I probably owe it to the FIVE days of school that were cancelled due to weather throughout the month. Even better, I at least liked everything I read this month! I love months like this. :) What books did you read this month?

January Reads

A Very Hexy Valentine's Day

by Rachel Hawkins

Eh, nothing extremely special. It had a bit of humor, but it was quite short (a page and a half long) so it didn't wow me. It was just a nice Valentine's Day extra for fans.

ANNA: Deleted Chapter

by Stephanie Perkins

Was cute. Made me smile. Glad it was cut from the book because it wasn't entirely pertinent.

Vulcans Are Hot

by Stephanie Perkins

Cute, but I wish there had been more than a sliver of romance. I mean, come on, it's Etienne and Anna here. ;)

Wide Open

by Shelly Crane

Review to come on January 7th 2014 at Holly's Reading Hollow during Shelly Crane's Wide Open blog tour!

Pre-read reaction:
I am so excited for this!!! Can't wait until December January 7th, 2014!!! I wish it were available for pre-order...

The Kite Runner

by Khaled Hosseini

This book. I don't have any words to describe how incredible this story is. It tore me to pieces more times than I can count. It was complex and raw... Amir, Hassan, Sohrab, Baba, Ali, Rahim Khan, Soraya, Farid... I will not be forgettin...

The Other Fish in the Sea

by Jenn Cooksey

Shark Out of Water

by Jenn Cooksey

Anna and the French Kiss

by Stephanie Perkins

What a happy-inducing story! Anna and Etienne! <3 Film critic to neat-freak, hands and short stature to history lover, I loved all their characteristics and quirks that gave them and the book personality! So sweet and fun and a real page...

Between Shades of Gray

by Ruta Sepetys

Cinder

by Marissa Meyer

Nothin' like slacking off on all school work and housework to read a book in one day. ;) Review to come.

Incarnate

by Jodi Meadows

Ten Tiny Breaths

by K.A. Tucker

4 stars? 5 stars? I can't decide yet. So much wonderful development from the characters and beautifully written morals of the story.

The Kiss: An Anthology of Love and Other Close Encounters

by C.A. Newsome

I don't know the other authors in this anthology so I only read Colleen Hoover's novella. It was lovely and I am really happy that we were able to have a insight into the characters' lives after the Slammed series. Kel and Caulder intrig...
